Ashton
under 17`s travelled to Chorley on Sunday and ran out eventual 18 0
winners in a game that they dominated from the opening whistle . It was
only the narrow pitch and failure to take the many chances on offer
that kept the score down .
Ashton have struggled to find a regular scrum half this season
with four players in the position in as many weeks but the hunt may be
finally over with Shane Jones enjoying a great game in the number seven
shirt. It was Jones who opened the scoring going over from short range
and converting his own try . That was the only try of the first half
but the secomd half promised more points when a Robert Clark break
straight from the kick off led to a Liam Taylor try in the corner again
converted by Jones. Ben Robinson scored the third and final try ,
scything through some tired
Chorley
tackling to make the final score 18-0 .
Other standout players for the bears were Tom Foster , Joe Mc
Ginn , Nathan Davies and Michael Burns .
