Ashton bears
U17`s made the short journey to New springs and made hard work of an
18-18 draw.
The
Wigan
team were fired up from the off and scored 4 tries to Ashton’s 3,
ultimately the goal kicking of Shane Jones proving crucial. New
Springs were first to score when Jones dove over from acting half back,
to put the bears on the score sheet after great yards made by Kieran
Edwards.
Springs were next to score from the strong running winger .Liam
Taylor
was Ashton’s next scorer, bouncing out of the tackle to accelerate to
the line, to make the half time score 8-12, Jones converting from the
touch line.
The second half started with a New Springs try before Jones
repeated his first half feat, from acting halfback. Springs then
managed one final score to draw the match.
The Bears know
they will have to improve on this performance if they are to go on and
win the league. The best players on the day were Jones, Taylor, Michael
Burns, and Chris Fleming
