Ashton
Bears under 17’s entertained Oldham St Anne’s and if ever there was
a game of two halves, this was it. Ashton were the victims of
their own mistakes in the first half and as a result trailed 12-6 at
half time. The only highlight being a fine individual effort by
centre Liam Taylor on his debut. The second half was a different
story and the Bears ran in five unanswered tries from Michael Burns 2,
Andrew Ball, Keiron Edwards and Liam Taylor with his second to record a
convincing victory.
Ashton’s
pack was absolutely awesome and Joe McGinn and Ben Robinson along with
Michael Burns and Shane Jones were outstanding. It was a mighty
effort by Robert Clarke to get the man of the match award.
Nathan
Davies was solid at full back for Ashton as was Liam Taylor on his
debut in the centre. The only bad point is Danny Carter went to
hospital and has damaged his ankle ligaments.
