A packed house at the
Garswood Hall Bowling Club in Ashton saw Wigan Warriors stars Amos
Roberts, George Carmont and Mark Riddell take on three representatives
from Ashton Bears ARLFC.
The light hearted sports
quiz was an opportunity for the Bears to raise some much needed funds
for the club, which provides opportunities for Rugby League players of
all ages and abilities to play the game in the Ashton area from their
home ground Bear Park on Low Bank Road.
The audience quiz was won
following a tie break question with the victorious team, lead by Anna
Smith, getting closest to guessing the capacity of the JJB Stadium –
25,135.
The main quiz was won by
the Wigan Warriors team who graciously donated their winning prizes –
3 tickets to the Warriors Super League game against Salford on 5th June
– to the Ashton Bears representatives.
"It was great to see
so many people turn out to support the Ashton Bears and the Warriors at
the Community Quiz" said Warriors Community Development Manager
Mike Watson. "We have a great relationship with the Bears and
I’d like to Yvonne Thornley and Barbara Thompson for their help in
organising the event."
Three lucky quiz goers also
won signed Warriors memorabilia in the raffle, which was drawn by
Roberts, Riddell and Carmont.
